Greg Kerr Joins KTBC as Morning Anchor

Greg Kerr will be KTBC‘s morning anchor beginning July 16, the Austin Fox O&O announced today.

Kerr joins KTBC from corporate cousin Fox Sports Southwest, where is a Dallas-based freelance anchor and reporter. Prior to that, he served as sports director and news anchor for WFMY in Greensboro for nine years. Kerr began his career at KTBC more than 20 years ago.

“I’ve traded my sports hat and enthusiastically move over to the news side and I couldn’t be more excited about re-establishing myself with FOX 7 and the Austin area community,” Kerr said in a statement. Read more

WTXF’s Mike Jerrick Defends ‘Sleeping’ Fox News Correspondent, Calls KTBC Anchor ‘a Nut’

WTXF morning anchor Mike Jerrick defended Fox News correspondent Doug Luzader this week after he appeared to be sleeping when Austin Fox O&O KTBC patched to him for a live hit on Wednesday morning.

“It was obvious you were reading,” Jerrick told Luzader, who was appearing on WTXF via satellite. “That guy in Austin is a nut.”

Jerrick went on to explain that Luzader was reading The Washington Post at the time and KTBC didn’t have his earpiece “dialed in” properly. Video inside… Read more

Turns out that Fox News Correspondent Wasn’t Caught Sleeping on KTBC

Original Story: It was a long night for many covering the Super Tuesday results and it appeared that Fox News correspondent Doug Luzader had a little trouble rebounding for his early morning appearance on Austin Fox O&O KTBC today (video above).

KTBC anchor Joe Bickett gamely tried to rouse Luzader, who was appearing via satellite from Washington, D.C. (and may have been unable to hear Bickett), before ducking out of the segment. An hour later, Bickett was able to talk about the Republican primary results with Luzader, who appeared fully alert. Read more
