Lauren Ferrara to Anchor for KXRM

KXRM has announced Lauren Ferrara will join the Colorado Springs FOX affiliate as evening anchor.

Starting October 9, Ferrara will anchor the 6:30 p.m. news and co-anchor at 9:00 p.m. with vice president and news director Joe Cole. The video above is a short introduction to Ferrara the station posted to its website.

“Everything about this move to FOX21 just feels right,” Ferrara said in a statement. “Both outside and inside the station, people are so welcoming.”

Ferrara comes to KXRM from WKRN in Nashville, TN. She started her career at KLBK in Lubbock, TX, and has also worked at KVVU in Las Vegas, NV.

Colorado Springs Morning Anchors Demolish General Manager’s Office

File this video into the “sometimes it’s just fun to watch people break things” column.

KXRM, The FOX affiliate for Colorado Springs is getting a new newsroom. In the spirit of helping out, the morning news crew of Kimberly Price, Craig Coffey and Justin Chambers thought it would be fun to demolish the office of general manager Steve Dant without him in it, of course. Vandals Hit KXRM’s Downtown Studio

Dan Cochell, traffic reporter for KXRM, found he couldn’t get into the downtown studio of the Colorado Springs FOX affiliate Monday morning because the locks had been filled with glue.

Cochell missed his first report of the morning and had to drive to the regular studios 15 minutes away to deliver his traffic report.

KXRM news director Joe Cole told TVSpy, no stories were affected by the vandalism, “So far we haven’t been able to determine if we were a target or just part of a random crime. Several businesses were hit throughout downtown and the only common link we share is location.” Read more

Niki Weirich Joins KXRM Anchor Desk

KXRM in Colorado Springs is adding anchor Niki Weirich to its 6:30 and 9 p.m. newscasts.

Weirich, who comes to the Fox-affiliate from WYTV in Youngstown, OH, will join veteran Joe Cole at the anchor desk.

Cole, who is also the station’s VP of news, has been anchoring the newscasts solo since the departure of Stephanie Pytlinski last year and is looking forward to having some company.

“I think she will make a wonderful addition to FOX21 and I’m thrilled to have a co-anchor again,” Cole told The Gazette of Colorado Springs.

Weirich, a graduate of Kent State University, has been with WYTV since 2008.  Most recently, she co-anchored the ABC-affiliate’s 5, 6, and 11 p.m. newscasts. Read more
