Joe Young to Retire as KDAF General Manager

CW33Tribune Broadcasting has announced Joe Young will retire from KDAF after serving as vice president and general manager of the Dallas CW station since 1995.

Young oversaw the launch of the station’s first prime-time newscast in 1999 and the creation of the CW33 Kids Fund which has raised millions of dollars for kids in need.

“Joe’s done a great job at KDAF and we will miss his incredible passion and enthusiasm,” Tribune Broadcasting’s president of broadcast media Larry Wert said in a statement. “His leadership has served the station and the community well, and he should be proud of everything he’s accomplished.”

Young started his 40 year career working in sales at KDNL and KPLR in St. Louis. He then served in sales management positions for Telerep and Kansas State Network. Before moving to KDAF, Young was the VP and GM of WXIN in Indianapolis for ten years.

“It’s been a great ride,” said Young whose last day will be October 11. “I’m extremely proud of everything we’ve accomplished at KDAF-TV and grateful for being given the opportunity to lead such a wonderful team here in Dallas. I’m going to miss interacting with the talented professionals across Tribune, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my life.”
