Facebook Page Started in Support of Former KMBC Meteorologists

teachman_nichols_pageSome viewers of Kansas City ABC affiliate KMBC are upset that meteorologist Joel Nichols and Lisa Teachman aren’t at the station anymore and have started their own facebook page to let people know.

The page, called “I Support Lisa & Joel!” has, at this writing, 776 members. The website’s mission is written on the page, “In case you haven’t heard, Joel Nichols and Lisa Teachman were forced from KMBC 9. The Mission of this group is to show support for Joel & Lisa.”

One commenter wrote, “It was a pleasure getting to know both Lisa and Joel!! Half my life was spent watching Joel. Lisa is a grade A professional!! I will miss them both!!”

Nichols left KMBC in December after 25 years at the station. Teachman’s last day at the station was January 31.

TVSpy has asked for KMBC’s reaction to the page. We will update when we hear back.

Joel Nichols Leaves KMBC, Second Meteorologist May Also Be Out

nichols_teachman_kmbc copyLongtime KMBC meteorologist Joel Nichols has left the Kansas City ABC affiliate.

The Pitch confirmed with KMBC news director Sherrie Brown, December 31 was Nichols’ last day at KMBC.

Nichols celebrated 25 years with KMBC in June. According to Bottom Line Communications the sticking point was that the station wanted to move Nichols to evenings but Nichols wanted to stay on mornings.

“I would just say we didn’t want this to happen,” Brown told The Pitch. “We did everything we could to keep him, but in the end, it was his decision.”

BLC is also reporting KMBC meteorologist Lisa Teachman‘s contract has not been renewed.

Teachman joined KMBC in 2007.

TVSpy has asked KMBC about Teachman. We will update when we hear back.
