WCPO Hires Ken Broo as Sports Anchor

ken broo_304Cincinnati ABC affiliate WCPO has added Ken Broo as sports anchor and reporter.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work with the pros at 9 On Your Side,” Broo said in a statement. “I’ve always admired them as competitors. It will be terrific working alongside the incomparable John Popovich and with former colleagues Clyde Gray and chief meteorologist Steve Raleigh.”

Broo is a veteran in Cincinnati sports. He worked for nearly 17 years at WLWT and six years at WKRC. He has also worked in Washington, D.C., Oklahoma City, OK, Tulsa,OK, and Tampa, FL.

John Popovich Replacing Dennis Janson on WCPO Evening Newscasts

As Dennis Janson transitions to a new role at WCPO, John Popovich will move into the main sports anchor role at the Cincinnati ABC affiliate, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer‘s John Kiesewetter.

“With Denny transitioning, it gives us an opportunity to put John Popovich in the main sports role. John is one of the best storytellers in town and you will be seeing more of his reports,”  WCPO general manager Jeff Brogan told the Enquirer.

Popvich joined WCPO in 1979. He currently anchors sports on the weekend evening newscasts.
