All of WNYW‘s rival stations reported last night Greg Kelly, an anchor at the Fox O&O, was cleared of the rape charges made against him last month. WNBC, WABC, WPIX and WCBS all led their respective evening newscasts with the story.

WABC reporter Lucy Yang was live in lower Manhattan, while WCBS’ Sean Hennessey and WNBC’s Jonathan Dienst reported the story from the WCBS and WNBC newsrooms.

The New York Daily News reports rival stations were “shocked when they first saw the spot,” which premiered during the Super Bowl on WNBC. It features a scene of Kelly walking alongside correspondent Jonathan Dienst (pictured).

A spokesperson for the NYPD, Paul Browne, told the Daily News that the police department requested the edits after receiving a complaint from WCBS, the CBS O&O. The complaint from WCBS reportedly called Kelly’s appearance in the ad “outrageous” and said it suggested favoritism. continued…

WNBC’s dramatic “I-Team” ads were run repeatedly throughout the big game, giving Jonathan Dienst, Melissa Russo, Lynda Baquero, and Chris Glorioso the same level of exposure in New York as Volkswagon’s dogs and David Beckham’s underwear (video above).
