Cox Reporter Stopped By TSA Agent Who Isn’t Familiar With the District of Columbia

Justin Gray DC licenseFile this under people who need a geography lesson: a TSA agent in Orlando recently stopped Justin Gray, a Washington correspondent for Cox Media Group, because he did not recognize his D.C. driver’s license as a valid form of identification.

Gray, who says his license is legal and up-to-date, says the agent said he did not recognize the license and asked him for his passport. Gray told the agent he did not have his passport and, after a brief conversation, realized the agent did not know what the District of Columbia is.

The agent eventually let him through. Gray filed a report on the incident yesterday: “The TSA says because of what happened to me, they’re now showing pictures of DC IDs to every TSA agent there in Orlando,” he said. Watch the report after the jump. Read more

Josh Bernstein joins Al Jazeera International as an investigative correspondent. Bernstein was previously senior investigative reporter at KDVR in Denver.

Kori Chambers returns to his native New York as he joins WPIX as morning anchor. Chambers comes from WFLD in Chicago, where he was the morning and noon anchor.

Dan Mannarino has been promoted to early morning anchor at WPIX in New York City. He has been a reporter for the station since 2011. Read more

In Retaliation for Unflattering Story, Georgia Governor Bans WAGA from Press Event

WAGA reporter Justin Gray was barred from a public bill signing held last week by Georgia Governor Nathan Deal because the governor’s press office was apparently upset over an unflattering story that WAGA ran the night before.

When trying to enter the signing of an immigration bill, Gray was stopped at the door by state troopers. The governor’s press secretary told Gray that he would not be allowed access until the Fox O&O retracts claims it made in an investigative report from Dale Russell. Read more
