KBAK-KBFX Crew Get Stuck in Lake Tahoe

A reporter and a photojournalist from KBAK-KBFX were among the many news crews dispatched to report on the winter weather across the country this week. On their way to the Sierra Nevada mountains, where they were tasked with reporting a story on how snow levels are affecting California water levels,  Jonathan Gonzalez and Johnny Guillen were thwarted by a car accident right in front of them.

“Stuck in the snow, stuck without a story” as they waited for the traffic to clear, Gonzalez and Guillen instead interviewed the people around them about the snow, the road conditions and how they planned to pass the time. Watch:

KBAK-KBFX Introduces Sinclair Broadcast Group to Bakersfield

KBAK-KBFX in Bakersfield, Calif. are two of the stations recently acquired by Sinclair Broadcast Group in its purchase of Fisher Communications. In honor of the ownership change, the duopoly’s morning newscast put together a tour of the town (DMA 127) for its new management (video above).

Rob Finnerty Joins KBAK-KBFX in Bakersfield

Rob Finnerty is joining KBAK-KBFX, Fisher Communications’ duopoly in Bakersfield, Calif.

From 2007-10, Finnerty was a sports anchor at New England Cable News. He has most recently been a wealth management advisor at Merrill Lynch in Boston. At KBAK-KBFX, he will anchor the morning newscasts alongside Lynda Halligan and weathercaster Aaron Perlman.

“We are extremely fortunate to have Rob join our team,” news director Cristi Jessee said in a statement. “He brings big market expertise to the desk and I know Kern County is going to love waking up to him each morning.”

Amity Addrisi to Replace Longtime Anchor Lisa Krch on KBAK-KBFX Evening Newscasts

After 15 years at KBAK-KBFX, evening anchor Lisa Krch (left) has parted ways with Fisher Communications’ Bakersfield duopoly.

KBAK-KBFX news director Cristi Jessee told TVSpy weekend anchor Amity Addrisi (right) will replace Krch on the evening newscasts. She will anchor alongside Kurt Rivera.

Krch, who was last on the air yesterday, anchored the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts. She also hosted and produced a weekly Sunday evening show focused on health issues. She joined the station in 1997 as the morning anchor.
