David Hall Joins Orlando’s WKMG

David HallDavid Hall is the new morning anchor at Orlando CBS affiliate WKMG, the Orlando Sentinel‘s Hal Boedeker reports.

“We searched long and hard for the right person to join our team,” WKMG general manager Skip Valet said. “I am confident that we found that person in David Hall. He is a smart, strong journalist who enjoys communicating with viewers, and he is excited get to work in our community.”

Hall comes from KMBC in Kansas City, where he was a weekend anchor and reporter. Beginning June 23, he will co-anchor the 5 to 7 a.m. newscast alongside Bridgett Ellison.

Joel Nichols Set to Join KSHB in Kansas City

joel nichols promoWeathercaster Joel Nichols is joining KSHB, the NBC affiliate in Kansas City, The Pitch reports. Nichols most recently worked at rival KMBC, the ABC affiliate in Kansas City.

“Joel Nichols will be joining 41 Action News later this summer,” KSHB creative services director Randy Thurman said. “We are excited to have him on our team.”

Nichols worked at KMBC for 25 years before signing off in January. According to The Pitch, KSHB has been running promos advertising Nichols’ return (pictured).

Diane Cho Leaving KMBC

cho_kmbcDiane Cho is leaving Kansas City ABC affiliate KMBC.

A station spokesperson told TVSpy, Cho will be joining her fiance. Cho tells us she and her fiance, who also works in the TV, plan to stay in the industry and are fortunate enough to have other opportunities to explore.

Before coming to KMBC in February 2011, Cho worked at WJXT in Jacksonville, FL. Her last day is tomorrow.

Neville Miller Debuts on KMBC

neville_miller_kmbcKMBC has announced Neville Miller has joined the Kansas City ABC affiliate as meteorologist.

“Neville loves weather…it’s his passion,” Sherrie Brown, KMBC news director said in a statement. “He’s so good at focusing on what people need to know and telling them in a clear and straightforward manner.”

Miller most recently worked at KMIZ-KZOU in Columbia, MO. He started his career at WCIV in Charleston, SC.

Facebook Page Started in Support of Former KMBC Meteorologists

teachman_nichols_pageSome viewers of Kansas City ABC affiliate KMBC are upset that meteorologist Joel Nichols and Lisa Teachman aren’t at the station anymore and have started their own facebook page to let people know.

The page, called “I Support Lisa & Joel!” has, at this writing, 776 members. The website’s mission is written on the page, “In case you haven’t heard, Joel Nichols and Lisa Teachman were forced from KMBC 9. The Mission of this group is to show support for Joel & Lisa.”

One commenter wrote, “It was a pleasure getting to know both Lisa and Joel!! Half my life was spent watching Joel. Lisa is a grade A professional!! I will miss them both!!”

Nichols left KMBC in December after 25 years at the station. Teachman’s last day at the station was January 31.

Kisha Henry Headed to KMBC

kisha_henry_croppedKisha Henry, weekend anchor for Oklahoma City FOX affiliate KOKH is heading to Kansas City.

Henry announced on Twitter she’ll be working for Kansas City ABC affiliate KMBC, “I’ll be going home in March! I’ve accepted an anchor/reporter position w/ KMBC in KC! Big thank u to all of u who made OKC home for me.”

Before working at KOKH, Henry worked at KTVO in Kirksville, MO.

Meteorologist Lisa Teachman Out at KMBC

Lisa-Teachman--2010----29339610Kansas City meteorologist Lisa Teachman has confirmed on her facebook page what TVSpy told you a week ago. She is leaving ABC affiliate KMBC.

“This year will mark changes for me and my family,” wrote Teachman. “After January 31, I will no longer be a member of the KMBC weather team.”

Teachman also confirmed the news with Bottom Line Communications, which first reported her contract had not been renewed along with the departure of longtime meteorologist Joel Nichols.

Before coming to KMBC in 2007, Teachman worked at WBFF in Baltimore, MD. She has also worked at WSAZ in Charleston, WV, and KSNW in Wichita, KS. Read more

Joel Nichols Leaves KMBC, Second Meteorologist May Also Be Out

nichols_teachman_kmbc copyLongtime KMBC meteorologist Joel Nichols has left the Kansas City ABC affiliate.

The Pitch confirmed with KMBC news director Sherrie Brown, December 31 was Nichols’ last day at KMBC.

Nichols celebrated 25 years with KMBC in June. According to Bottom Line Communications the sticking point was that the station wanted to move Nichols to evenings but Nichols wanted to stay on mornings.

“I would just say we didn’t want this to happen,” Brown told The Pitch. “We did everything we could to keep him, but in the end, it was his decision.”

BLC is also reporting KMBC meteorologist Lisa Teachman‘s contract has not been renewed.

Teachman joined KMBC in 2007.

KMBC Adds Matt Evans as Reporter

matt_evans_kmbcMatt Evans has joined Kansas City ABC affiliate KMBC as a reporter.

Evans posted the news to his facebook page, “I’m beyond thrilled to begin my career in my home market and less than 90 minutes away from my hometown. I look forward to learning from some of the same people I grew up watching and from some of the best reporters in Kansas City.”

Evans, who currently works at KOMU in Columbia, MO, told his facebook friends he starts as a nightside reporter until he graduates from the University of Missouri in December and moves to mornings.

Justin Andrews Joins KWWL From KTVO

justin andrews ktvo_304x200After less than a year at KTVO in Kirksville, Mo., Justin Andrews is set to join KWWL, the NBC affiliate in Waterloo, Iowa.

“I’ve had the opportunity to share stories of triumph and tragedy while here in the Heartland,” he wrote on Facebook. “It’s bittersweet that I’ll be leaving KTVO in October … You’ve invited me into you homes every weekend giving you the latest on what’s going on in your neighborhood. I’ll miss sharing YOUR stories!”

Before joining KTVO in November 2012, Andrews worked as an associate producer and fill-in assignment editor at KMBC, the ABC affiliate in Kansas City.
