North Platte CBS Affiliate Extends Newscast

knpl_304Responding to what it says is viewer request, North Platte, NE, CBS affiliate KNPL has expanded its 10:00 p.m. news to a half hour.

“We exist to serve our viewers,” KNPL news director Stephanie Hedrick said in a statement. “Since we launched 10/11 North Platte News in September, we’ve had an amazing response and demand for even more news. We’re happy to give our viewers what they want.”

According to the station, “10/11 North Platte News at Ten will begin with ten minutes of the news that matters most to North Platte, co-anchored by Adam Uhernik & Kristin Bauer. Meteorologist Rusty Dawkins follows with a North Platte area forecast.”

KNPL is under the umbrella branding “10/11 News” that includes Gray Television owned broadcast stations KOLN-KGIN in Lincoln, NE, and KSNB in Central Nebraska.

KNPL Set to Debut Evening Newscasts

Gray Television’s CBS affiliate in North Platte, Neb., debuts local newscasts tonight. KNPL’s 6:30 and 10 p.m. broadcasts will be the area’s first high definition local news.

“The launch of KNPL-TV means North Platte now has its own local CBS affiliate, with its own news team, sales/marketing team, and creative services department,” general manager Susan Ramsett said in a statement. “We’re excited to be here and are looking forward to serving the viewers, businesses and organizations that call North Platte home.”

Adam Uhernik and Kristin Bauer will anchor the newscasts with meteorologist Rusty Dawkins.

North Platte’s New CBS Station Chooses Downtown Studio

Gray Television has chosen the corner of Fourth and Dewey in downtown Platte as home base for KNPL, the new CBS affiliate for North Platte, NE.

“We looked at a number of possible spots,” 10/11 news director Sue Ramsett told the North Platte Bulletin. “But kept coming back to the downtown location. We liked the idea of being in the heart of the city and were charmed by the brick streets and history of the area.”

In March, Gray announced it was launching KNPL as the first CBS affiliate for North Platte. Gray also owns the CBS affiliates in Lincoln (KOLN) and Grand Island (KGIN), branding them as 10/11. KNPL begins broadcasting in early September and will become “10/11 North Platte,” broadcasting a mix of local programming with programs from the Lincoln and Grand Island stations.

The station said it would add a news set, a green room, production and editing stations, a creative services area and space for sales and marketing to the downtown North Platte building.

New CBS Affiliate Coming to North Platte, Nebraska

CBS Television has announced its reached an agreement with Gray Television to launch KNPL as the first local CBS affiliate for the North Platte, NE, market on September 1, 2013.

“This new affiliation agreement is a welcome opportunity to enhance CBS’s service to viewers in central Nebraska with the Network’s first home station in North Platte,” said Diana Wilkin, president of CBS Affiliate Relations. “It also builds on a very successful partnership we’ve long had with Gray Television in Lincoln and Grand Island, among many other markets.”

Gray plans to re-brand KNPL as “10/11 North Platte.” Gray also owns Lincoln, NE, CBS affiliate KOLN which is branded as “10/11.” The station group recently launched an HD newscast on its newly acquired station KSNB, branded “10/11 Central Nebraska.” Read more
