Cowles to Purchase Seven Max Media Stations

max media logoWashington-based Cowles Co. has announced plans to buy seven stations from Max Media of Montana Co., the Associated Press reports. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Max Media Stations that will be sold are KULR in Billings, KTMF in Missoula and Kalispell, KWYB in Butte and Boseman, KFBB in Great Falls and KHBB in Helena.

The two companies expect to close the transaction by December 1. Watch a KFBB report on the sale after the jump. Read more

KTMF Launching Nightly Newscast in Missoula

Max Media’s KTMF is preparing to launch a nightly newscast in Missoula, MT.

The newscast will air at 9 p.m. and will focus on “heavy local news,” Max Media president Linda Gray told The Missoulian. Gray said the news department, helmed by news director and anchor Sarah Gravlee (pictured), is being assembled “from scratch.”

Gravlee will be joined by sports director Dominic Sheldon and chief meteorologist Dave Cochran. She comes to KTMF from KULR in nearby Billings, where she was an anchor, reporter and producer. Read more
