Triston Sanders Named Executive News Director at KENS

Triston Sanders is joining KENS, the CBS affiliate in San Antonio, as executive news director, TVSpy has learned. It is a move within Belo for Sanders, who has been assistant news director at WWL in New Orleans since September 2012.

“Triston has quickly become a part of the WWL-TV team and has contributed greatly to the recent growth of our news ratings. And while we will certainly miss her enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to excellence, we are thrilled that she will be able to take this next step in her career with BELO,” WWL general manager Tod Smith wrote in a memo to staffers Monday.

Before joining WWL, Sanders was the news director at WCTV in Tallahassee. She has also worked as a producer at WSVN in Miami and WFLA in Tampa.

Sanders begins at KENS on July 1. She replaces Kurt Davis, who was recently named vice president of news services for CBS News.

Bill Felling Named Executive Director of News Services at CBS News

CBS News has promoted Bill Felling to executive director of news services. Felling will oversee newsgathering for CBS affiliates across the country.

Felling, who joined CBS News in 1992, was most recently the network’s national editor, a position he has held since 1995. Before joining CBS, he was the 11 p.m. anchor and primary political correspondent for WCAX, the CBS affiliate in Burlingham, Vt.

He will report to Kurt Davis, who was recently named vice president of news services.

KENS Executive News Director Kurt Davis Joins CBS News

KENS executive news director Kurt Davis is joining CBS News as vice president of news services.

Davis has worked at the San Antonio CBS affiliate for 10 years. In his new role, he will oversee CBS News’ satellite newsgathering organization, which provides news and information to the network’s 200 affiliates.

Davis has also worked as manager of coverage and content at WSB in Atlanta and as news director at WDSU in New Orleans. He has also worked at KDFW in Dallas, WSET in Lynchburg, Va., KATV in Little Rock and WBRZ in Baton Rouge, La.

Christopher Heath Leaving San Antonio for Main Anchor Job in Dayton

Texas native Christopher Heath has left San Antonio’s KENS to become a main anchor at WKEF in Dayton, OH.

“It has been my distinct honor and privilege to be a part of this newsroom and moreover this city,” Heath wrote on Facebook, announcing his move to Dayton.  “San Antonio doesn’t just feel like home, it is home.  This is the city where my wife and I celebrated our first anniversary, bought our first home and welcomed our son into this world.  Thank you San Antonio for everything!”

Heath joined KENS in 2008 as an anchor-reporter and his last day with the station was Sunday.  No word yet on when he’ll make his on-air debut with WKEF. Read more
