KFYR has suspended Clemente “until we resolve the situation,” according to a statement posted to the station’s Facebook page.
“He did not realize his microphone was on, but still, that’s no excuse. We train our reporters to always assume that any microphone is live at any time,” news director Monica Hannan said. “Unfortunately, that was not enough in this case.”
Clemente did not appear on the 10 p.m. newscast, which opened with an apology from co-anchor Van Tieu.
