KFOR’s Lance West: Tornado ‘One of the Most Heartbreaking Events I’ve Ever Had to Cover’

KFOR reporter-anchor Lance West was one of the first to arrive at Plaza Towers Elementary School after a tornado ripped through Moore, Oklahoma Monday. West, who has worked at the Oklahoma City NBC affiliate since 1995, broke down on the air Monday while describing the scene at the school.

“It was one of the most heartbreaking events I’ve ever had to cover,” West said on NBC’s
“Today” show Tuesday. “…Sometimes we’re more human than reporter, and that happens. Images I will never forget.”

Emily Sutton Joins KFOR Morning News

KFOR meteorologist Emily Sutton will be moving to mornings for the Oklahoma City NBC affiliate.

“This will be a lifestyle change because I will be getting up a lot earlier, but I can do this,” Sutton said in a statement. “Being a marathon runner will no doubt help.”

Sutton, who joined KFOR three years ago, will join Ali Meyer, Kent Ogle and Britnee Bryles on KFOR from 4:00 to 7:00 a.m. and Lance West and Britnee Bryles from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. on KFOR’s independent sister station KAUT.

She replaces David Payne who left for rival station KWTV, Oklahoma City’s CBS affiliate, in December. Read more
