WGCL Names Jim Kosek Chief Meteorologist

Jim-Kosek1

Atlanta stations have lost three chief meteorologists this year alone, and WGCL is one of them. After Markina Brown‘s departure earlier this month, the CBS affiliate was once again on the lookout for a new weather anchor. Well, it looks like they’ve found Brown’s replacement.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution‘s Rodney Ho, Jim Kosek will replace Brown as chief meteorologist at the station. Kosek previously worked at Kansas City CBS affiliate KCTV for just five months. Prior to that, he was chief meteorologist at AccuWeather, where his wacky weather forecasts went viral.

WGCL news director Larry Perret announced the news in a memo to staff members yesterday.

Kosek’s first day is December 1.

KCTV news director Larry Perret told The Kansas City Star he’s already looking for Wach’s replacement even though the station has four meteorologists on staff.

Wachs started at KCTV in June 2008. He has also worked in Johnson City, TN, and at KNOP in North Platte, NE.

KTVX Hires AccuWeather Veteran, and YouTube Favorite, Jim Kosek as Chief Meteorologist

A day after saying goodbye to Roland Steadham, KTVX introduced AccuWeather veteran Jim Kosek as its new chief meteorologist.

Kosek has been with AccuWeather for the past 25 years, working out of the company’s State College headquarters.

KTVX news director Larry Perret sent an email out to staff this afternoon, announcing the hiring.  Kosek’s first day at the station will be January 18th.
