Arkansas Station Adds Yuna Lee as AM Anchor

lee khbsYuna Lee is joining KHBS-KHOG, the ABC affiliates for Fort Smith-Fayetteville, Ark. as morning co-anchor and reporter.

Starting October 30, Lee will join Ben Wagner and meteorologist Laura Huckabee for 40/29 Sunrise weekdays and also work as a reporter for the station.

“Yuna’s anchoring and field reporting experience is a perfect fit for our team”KHBS-KHOG news director Greg Shepperd said in a statement. “Her versatility will enhance 40/29 News’ commitment to thoroughly cover the entire market.”

Lee comes to the station from WHIO in Dayton, Ohio where she was an anchor and reporter for over 3 years. Before that, she worked at WHSV in Harrisonburg, Va. and WPBF in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Ben Wagner Upped to Morning Anchor at KHBS-KHOG

ben wagnerBen Wagner has been named morning anchor at KHBS-KHOG, Hearst’s duopoly in Fort Smith, Ark. Effective immediately, Wagner will co-anchor the newscast alongside Kelly Johnson and meteorologist Laura Huckabee.

“Ben’s energy and personality will be a great addition to the morning anchor desk,” KHBS-KHOG news director Greg Shepperd said in a statement. “Ben’s willingness to go the extra mile stands out, and I’m confident he’ll bring that same commitment to Sunrise whether he’s behind the anchor desk or reporting from the field hundreds of miles away.”

Wagner joined the stations in 2012 as a multimedia journalist. The morning newscast’s previous anchor, Derek Burleson, signed off in December.

KHBS-KHOG Adds Darby Bybee to Weather Team

KHBS-KHOG has announced Darby Bybee will join the ABC affiliate as the weekend evening meteorologist.

“Darby’s addition creates the largest team of meteorologists in our viewing area and enhances our commitment to provide the most comprehensive weather coverage around the clock,” said KHBS-KHOG news director, Greg Shepperd.

The station said Bybee, who comes from KARK in Little Rock, has logged nearly 45,000 miles in 23 states while reporting on tornadoes and hail and wind events.  He previously worked at KLKN in Lincoln, NE. Read more

Manuel Bojorquez joins CBS News as a Dallas-based correspondent. Bojorquez spent the past five years as a reporter for WSB in Atlanta.

LuAnne Sorrell moves to WOFL in Orlando as morning anchor, from WSVN in Miami, where she has been the weekend morning anchor.

Lisa Chavarria returns home to Chicago as a reporter for WFLD. Previously, Chavarria was a reporter for KHOU in Houston.

Brandon Gunnoe joins WHDH in Boston as weekend evening anchor and reporter. Most recently, Gunnoe was weekend anchor for KVOA in Tucson. Read more

Arkansas Native Laura Huckabee Joins KHBS-KHOG as Morning Meteorologist

Laura Huckabee, an Arkansas native and cousin of Mike Huckabee, is joining KHBS-KHOG in Fort Smith-Fayetteville, where she’ll anchor the Hearst station’s weekday morning newscast.

Huckabee has over two decades of forecasting experience, including ten years at WGCL in Atlanta.

“Laura understands weather is the most important element in our morning newscast,” said Brian Sather, KHBS-KHOG’s president and general manager, announcing the move. “I’m confident from day one viewers will enjoy her comfortable delivery and informative local forecasts.” Read more
