Josh Benson Joins WFOR as Morning Co-Anchor

Josh Benson is joining WFOR, the CBS O&O in Miami, as c0-anchor of the morning newscast.

Benson comes from WFTV, the ABC-affiliate in Orlando, where he spent two years as the station’s evening anchor. At WFOR, he will co-anchor from 5 to 7 a.m. alongside Rhiannon Ally. His first day will be August 27.

“We are very excited to introduce Josh Benson to our viewers,” WFOR news director Liz Roldan said in a statement announcing the hire. “His on-air presence, energy, and journalism skills will make him a great addition to our morning team.”

WFOR to Launch Weekend Morning Newscasts

WFOR, the CBS O&O in Miami, is launching weekend morning newscasts in July.

Marybel Rodriguez (pictured) will anchor both hour-long newscasts, which will air on Saturdays at 6 a.m. and on Sundays at 8 a.m. She will be joined by meteorologist Craig Setzer.

“The expansion of our news coverage reflects not only our commitment to covering South Florida, but also the fact that this area is one of the most dynamic news markets in the nation,” WFOR news director Liz Roldan said in a statement. “Taken in tandem with our Saturday and Sunday evening newscasts, this move will allow us to provide seamless and consistent coverage every day of the week, including weekends.”

Liz Roldan Named WFOR News Director

Liz Roldan has been named news director at WFOR. Roldan, who joined the CBS O&O in August as an executive producer, has been serving as interim news director for the part month.

This is Roldan’s second tenure at WFOR. She served as assignment manager in the early to mid 90s before joining WTVJ, where she worked as managing editor.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Liz’s professionalism and ability in this position,” said WFOR vice president and general manager Adam Levy. “Liz not only brings a comprehensive knowledge of news operations to this position, but also extensive experience in the South Florida market. That’s an invaluable combination and we’re confident it will take CBS4 to new levels of excellence and achievement.”
