Logan Byrnes Reportedly Out at WTIC

byrnes wticThe Hartford Courant reports, Logan Byrnes, morning anchor for Hartford FOX affiliate WTIC, is no longer with the station.

“As much as I would have loved to have continued to deliver the morning news, and as happy as I was with my current contract terms, unfortunately  renewal negotiations were unsuccessful,” he wrote in a prepared statement . “I take great pride in having helped launch the FoxCT Morning News seven years ago when it began as a two-hour weekday newscast from 6 to 8 a.m.”

Byrnes came to WTIC in 2008, from Inside Edition where he was a correspondent. His bio has been removed from the station website and a check of TVEyes showed Byrnes did not anchor this morning’s show.

TVSpy asked Tribune for comment. We will update when we hear back.

Hartford’s WTIC Expands Morning Newscast

WTIC, the Fox-affiliate in Hartford, is revamping its morning news hours beginning next Monday.

Currently, the station’s morning show airs from 4:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., leading in to syndicated programming from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. At 11 a.m., WTIC airs a half-hour newscast. Beginning next week, the station will scrap the 11 a.m. newscast and tack an extra hour to the morning show — making the expanded hours 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Logan Byrnes will continue to anchor the broadcast with meteorologist Joe Furey; Erika Arias, who began as morning co-anchor this week, will join them from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Meteorologist Rachel Frank, who is normally seen in the evenings on WTIC, will also be featured while Rachel Lutzker is on maternity leave. Geoff Fox will take over Frank’s evening duties in the interim.

Hartford’s WTIC Shuffles Anchors As Sarah French Departs for Boston’s WHDH

Former WTIC morning anchor Sarah French (pictured, left) is headed for Boston’s WHDH as weekend anchor, and WTIC is using her departure as an opportunity to shuffle existing talent, The Hartford Courant reported today.

On September 18, Alison Morris — currently weekend evening anchor at the Hartford-New Haven Fox affiliate — will replace Erika Arias on the station’s 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday broadcasts. Morris will co-anchor with Brent Hardin, the current 10 p.m. anchor, for both broadcasts.

Arias, meanwhile, will be setting her alarm a little bit earlier: on September 19, she will replace French as Logan Byrnes‘ co-anchor on the morning show, from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. Read more
