WWMT in Grand Rapids, MI debuted the market’s first 4:30 a.m. newscast today.
“We are proud to be the first to offer a 4:30 a.m. local newscast to Western Michigan,” WWMT vice president and general manager Jim Lutton said, announcing the newscast’s debut. “We are dedicated to being the news leader in the market and this shows our commitment to those efforts.”
WWMT is introducing a new member to its morning team. Marcie Kobriger, who spent the last three years as a weekend anchor for WBAY in Green Bay, has been named co-anchor of the CBS-affiliate’s weekday morning newscast.
“I am excited to have Marcie join our morning news team. Her energy and excitement will be a great addition to Newschannel 3,” said WWMT news director Steve Koles.
Before WBAY, Kobriger worked as a reporter and anchor at WNDU in South Bend, IN.
Marcie Kobriger joins CBS-affiliate WWMT in Kalamazoo. She will be anchoring WWMT’s weekday morning newscasts in addition to reporting. Kobriger comes to Kalamazoo from Green Bay.
Jamie Oberg joins CBS-affiliate KWTV in Oklahoma City as a general assignment reporter. Most recently, Oberg worked at the Fox-affiliate in Tulsa.
Anchor-reporter Ed Drantch has left WHSV in Harrisonburg, VA after nearly three years to join WIVB in Buffalo, NY, jumping 125 markets.
