4 Months After Leaving Seattle’s KCPQ, Mark Wright Joins Rival KING

After announcing in April that he would leave Seattle Fox affiliate KCPQ to spend more time with his family, Mark Wright will join NBC affiliate KING in the same market on September 5.

Wright, who is a Seattle native, was with KCPQ for eight years. In his new role, he will anchor with Joyce Taylor from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on KING, and from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on sister station KONG.

“This is a big job and we were looking for someone who viewers in Western Washington will invite into their homes every morning,” KING executive news director Mark Ginther said in a statement. “We talked with a number of people, and we believe Mark’s community roots and standing will be a real asset to us. We are thrilled to have someone with his experience joining our team.”

Wright replaces Brad Goode, who left KING this summer to be a correspondent for CNBC.
