WCCO Adds Two to Morning Show

matt-and-kim wccoWCCO, the Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN, CBS owned station, has announced Matt Brickman and Kim Johnson will join 4 News this Morning starting September 1.

Brickman and Johnson currently anchor the station’s Saturday morning news.

Brickman also produces the “Best of Minnesota” segments. He replaces Mike Augustyniak, who, the station said, asked for reassignment. Augustyniak will stay on as weekend meteorologist and weekday weather producer.

“My body doesn’t work as well at 3 a.m. as it does at 3 p.m. I’m grateful that we were able to figure out a solution that allowed me to better balance my personal life with my work life,” said Augustyniak.

Kim Johnson, who joined the WCCO team in May, currently anchors Saturday Mornings and serves as a reporter on weekdays. Read more

WCCO Launching Sunday Morning Newscast

Beginning this weekend, Minneapolis CBS O&O WCCO will have a Sunday morning newscast.

“As the local news leader, we are always looking for opportunities to increase our commitment to serving our viewers,” VP-GM Brien Kennedy said in a statement. “We feel Sunday mornings is a great time to make this happen.”

The hourlong show will air from 6 to 7 a.m. It will be anchored by Esme Murphy (pictured), who will be joined by meteorologist Matt Brickman.

On the Move, 8/5/11

Stephen Cropper is staying in the Pittsburgh market, becoming the new chief meteorologist for WPXI.  Cropper leaves WTAE where he has been since 1995.

Matt Lorch is moving home to Seattle, where he’s set to become the new 5 p.m. anchor for KCPQ.  He leaves Boston’s WHDH where he anchored early evenings and reported.

Don Teague joins Fox O&O KRIV in Houston as primary anchor.  Teague departs CBS News where he was a Texas-based correspondent for the last two years, and prior, was with NBC News based in Dallas and Atlanta.

Melissa Long is returning to Atlanta to join WXIA as 10 p.m. anchor.  Most recently, Long was an anchor and correspondent for Bloomberg TV in New York. Read more
