On the Move, 10/21/13

Matt Johnson joins KATU in Portland as a weekend anchor and reporter. He comes from KSWB in San Diego, where he was a reporter and fill-in anchor.

Duncan Shaw is joining WBZ, the CBS owned station in Boston, as morning executive producer. Previously, Shaw was a producer at KCNC in Denver.

Ericka Miller moves from WXII in Winston-Salem to KEYE in Austin, where she will be a weekend anchor and reporter.

Beanna Gilroy joins WLEX in Lexington,  Ky. from KNDU in Yakima, Wash. She will be a weekend anchor and reporter at WLEX.

Johnson is represented by Mort Meisner Associates. Miller and Gilroy are represented by Steve Swienckowski at DCA Talent.

Anne-Marie Green has joined CBS News as anchor of “Up to the Minute” and “CBS Morning News.” She was weekend morning anchor at KYW in Philadelphia.

Bisi Onlie-Ere joins Al Jazeera America as a Detroit-based correspondent, from reporter/fill-in anchor at WDIV in Detroit.

Maurice Drummond joins KMOV in St. Louis as Sports Director. He was weekend sports anchor at KTVI.

Jessob Reisbeck was recently named weekday morning anchor at WITI in Milwaukee.  He moves from KMPH in Fresno where he was the weekend sports anchor.

Matt Johnson has recently joined KFMB in San Diego as a reporter. He comes from KATV in Little Rock.

Walt Maciborski is the new main weeknight anchor at KEYE in Austin. He was an anchor/reporter at WXIN in Indianapolis.

Julie Grant is the new weekday morning anchor at WGHP in High Point, North Carolina. Julie was an Assistant District Attorney in Pittsburgh.

Mahsa Saeidi has been reporting at NY1 in New York City.  She moved from WCTI in Jacksonville, North Carolina, where she was a reporter.

Jamie Ratliff is now reporting for WVIT in Hartford, Connecticut. She was a reporter at WXXA in Albany.

Nineveh Dinha has been promoted to 4 p.m. weekday anchor, from weekend anchor at KSTU in Salt Lake City.

KATV’s Matt Johnson (aka Mattafact) Records Rap Song About Being a TV Reporter

Matt Johnson, a reporter with KATV in Little Rock, has recorded what is probably the best rap song ever produced about being a TV reporter.

The song, titled “Camera Tricks” (embedded above), is a dramatic meditation on what it means to be a TV reporter–working long hours for little pay and covering stories that often linger in a person’s mind long after the cameras have turned off.

Johnson, who goes by the stage name Mattafact, told TVSpy recently that he began recording the song after “becoming disillusioned from all the robbery, shooting, and other crime stories” that he was covering. Read more
