NBC Owned Stations Pick Up ‘The Meredith Vieira Show’

“The Meredith Vieira Show” has been sold to the NBC Owned Television Stations for its Fall 2014 debut, NBCUniversal announced today.

It is not a surprise that the NBC Owned Station Group would be the first to pick up the show, which will be produced and distributed by NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution. In a statement announcing the news, NBC Owned Television Stations president Valari Staab said the group “couldn’t be happier to welcome Meredith Vieira to our 10 stations.”

“”With her genuine warmth, intelligence and likeability, as well as her extraordinary ability to understand and connect with viewers, Meredith is a great addition to our daytime lineup,” Staab said. “We look forward to the Fall of 2014.”

Vieira’s daytime talk show will be produced in New York City from a set that resembles her home. It will air on the NBC owned stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Miami, San Diego and Hartford.

WFTV Anchor Team Set To Appear On ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’

WFTV anchors Greg Warmoth and Vanessa Echols are putting their 14-year on-air partnership to the test — the trivia test.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the pair, who anchor the morning newscast on the ABC-affiliate in Orlando, will appear as a team on “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.” The episode will be taped next week and will air in late November.

Warmoth and Echols will donate their winnings to the Second Harvest Food Bank. According to the syndicated show, the two “will play the game as a two-person team and will be able to discuss the questions and possible answers with each other before deciding on one Final Answer to give host Meredith Vieira.”

Mary Hart’s Final ‘Entertainment Tonight’

The season of lasts continues on TV. Tonight is Mary Hart‘s final “Entertainment Tonight.”

During the final show, which was taped yesterday, Hart was surprised by former co-hosts Bob Goen, Rob Weller, and John Tesh.

Hart, who has been with the show since 1982, will be replaced by former “Access Hollywood” host Nancy O’Dell, who is a former reporter at WPDE-TV in her native Myrtle Beach, later morning news anchor WCBD-TV in Charleston, before moving to Miami’s WTVJ where she was an anchor/reporter.

There was Katie Couric last night. Next week Oprah Winfrey signs off, and two weeks after that, Meredith Vieira says goodbye to “Today” viewers.

And while Hart has been with the show longest, she wasn’t there from the start. To the way-back YouTube machine!
