In Columbus, WBNS Expanding Morning News to 4:25 a.m. with New Anchor Duo

Columbus’ WBNS is furthering the trend of early morning start times as it plans to begin its morning newscast at 4:25 a.m. beginning next year.  Like most stations that have made the shift to 4:30, WBNS is tacking on 30 minutes to the front of its existing morning show.

“These changes are in response to viewer feedback and shifting viewing patterns,” said Elbert Tucker, WBNS’s director of news.  “We recognize that our viewers have increased options for processing news and information and we need to be responsive to their needs and relevant to their lifestyles. We are confident that by adding an additional half hour of local news each morning and changing the dynamic of our morning team, Central Ohio’s News Leader will be better equipped to serve the viewers of Central Ohio.”

The expanded morning newscast will be anchored by Jeff Hogan and Angela An. Hogan started with the CBS-affiliate as a sports anchor but shifted to news anchor last year.  Since then, he has anchored the 6 and 10 p.m. weekend newscasts.  An joined WBNS in 2000 and has most recently been anchoring the station’s weekend morning newscasts.  Hogan and An will be joined by meteorologist Mike Davis and traffic reporter Karina Nova.
