A Surprise Celebration For Rod Wood’s 50 Years On the Air in Syracuse

Syracuse ABC affiliate WSYR surprised Rod Wood with an on-air celebration of his 50 years as a broadcaster in Central New York (video above).

Several television personalities, including ABC News anchor David Muir, Rachael Ray, Dr. Oz, Entertainment Tonight’s Nancy O’Dell and ESPN’s Mike Tirico, recorded video salutes for Wood.

“You’ve been the trusted newsman there in Syracuse for decades now and I can’t think of a better team than you and Carrie [Lazarus]. I’m so glad that everyone at channel 9 isn’t letting the day go by without letting you know that you’ve been there for 50 years,” Muir said. “…Here’s to another 50.”
