San Diego Station Adds Two Newscasts, Names Evening Anchor

Viewers of San Diego FOX affiliate KSWB saw two newscasts launched yesterday.

KSWB added FOX 5 News at One anchored by Erica Fox, Andrew Luria and weather anchor Jason Handman and FOX 5 News at Four with Luria and Handman joined by Jenn Karlman.

The station also moved weekend anchor Phil Blauer to weekday co-anchor of the 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. news alongside Kathleen Bade.

Blauer came to KSWB from cross town CBS affiliate KFMB earlier this year.

Phil Blauer Out at KFMB

blauer croppedKFMB anchor Phil Blauer is no longer working for the San Diego CBS affiliate.

KFMB general manger Pat Nevin confirmed the news with TVSpy via email, but didn’t respond when we asked why Blauer left.

Blauer had worked at KFMB since 1998 and was named weekend evening anchor in May 2012. Before coming to KFMB, Blauer worked at KESQ in Palm Springs for 15 years.

Phil Blauer Promoted to Weekend Anchor at KFMB

Phil Blauer has been promoted to weekend evening anchor at KFMB, the CBS-affiliate in San Diego.

Blauer joined KFMB as a weekday general assignment and investigative reporter in 1998. Prior to that, he spent 15 years as the main anchor at KESQ in Palm Springs. Blauer will co-anchor the KFMB weekend newscasts at 5, 6:30 and 11 p.m. with Marcella Lee.

Blauer replaces Craig McKee, who joined Milwaukee’s WISN in March.
