Sula Kim to Join WDSU as Morning Co-Anchor

Sula Kim is joining WDSU, the NBC-affiliate in New Orleans, as a morning anchor.

She will be paired with Randi Rousseau, who currently anchors solo in the mornings. Kim will join the station after the May ratings period.

“Mornings are special in New Orleans, and we think she’s a truly special person … and a tremendous addition to our news team,” WDSU news director Jonathan Shelley said in a statement.

Kim has worked at WVEC, the ABC-affiliate in Norfolk, VA, since 2005. She is currently the station’s weekend evening anchor.

In New Orleans, Two Morning Anchors Say Goodbye

The morning news in New Orleans looks a lot different today than it did yesterday as both WDSU and WWL said goodbye to morning anchors on Wednesday.

Melanie Hebert, who has been with WDSU since 2008, announced to viewers that she is leaving the NBC-affiliate to “take some time off for awhile.”

The WDSU morning team took turns saying goodbye to Hebert towards the end of yesterday’s newscast and shared a cake (video here).

Over at CBS-affilaite WWL, morning anchor Wayne Carter (left) also bid farewell on Wednesday, just a year after joining the station.

“He wanted to pursue other opportunities,” WWL news director Bill Siegel told The Times-Picayune. “It was amicable, obviously.”

Both anchors remain mum on what their next moves will be. Randi Rousseau will anchor WDSU’s morning newscast solo until Hebert’s replacement is found. And WWL now has a “Morning Show Anchor” job listing posted on its website.
