Jacki Jing Out at WXIX

WXIX morning anchor Jacki Jing is no longer with the Cincinnati FOX affiliate, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Jing’s bio has been removed from the station website. She posted a photo of a sunset to her facebook page.

WXIX GM Bill Lanesey confirmed with the Enquirer Jin no longer works at the station.

The anchor change at Channel 19 is the latest in a long list of TV departures this summer, which will bring many new faces to Cincinnati airwaves this fall. Also gone are Kit Andrews (Channel 12) and Larry Handley, Sarah Walters and Amy Wadas (Channel 9). Clyde Gray retires as Channel 9′s main co-anchor later this month, and I-Team reporter Brendan Keefe leaves Channel 9 in September for an Atlanta TV station.

‘A Very Dark Place,’ Cincinnati Meteorologist Describes Former Station

Handley_wcpoLarry Handley, the WCPO meteorologist who left the station Friday, told fellow staffers in his goodbye email he was not happy at the Cincinnati ABC affiliate.

“Recently, Channel 9 has become a very dark place for me,” Handley wrote in the email. “Nearly every day was heavy and bleak and that is no way to spend so many hours week after week.”

The Cincinnati Enquirer‘s John Kiesewetter who first posted the email, reports Handley left after his contract had not been renewed after 15 years at the station.

His exit, coupled with the departure of meteorologist Sarah Walters earlier this month, means Channel 9 has lost half of its weather staff during the July ratings “sweeps” while looking to replace main news co-anchor Clyde Gray, who retires in August.

Handley could not be reached for comment. General manager Jeff Brogan said Channel 9 doesn’t comment on personnel matters, and added: “We appreciate Larry’s time spent at WCPO and wish him the very best.”

Sarah Walters In, Cyndee O’Quinn Out At WCPO

There are some changes to the weather team at Cincinnati ABC-affiliate WCPO, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Cyndee O’Quinn (pictured), who started at WCPO in 2002, has left the station in search of a position as a communications expert, news director Bob Morford said in a note to staff obtained by the Enquirer.

“As many of you know, meteorologists are often in demand for a wide variety of businesses outside television and yes, the hours are often a whole lot better!” Morford wrote. He added that O’Quinn may still appear on WCPO as a freelancer occasionally.

She will be replaced on the weekend morning newscasts by Sarah Walters, who made her debut this weekend. She joins WCPO from KNXV in Phoenix.
