‘SNL’ Lampoons Local News Satellite Delay

On its season premiere this past weekend, “Saturday Night Live” went to WDHX in Buffalo as anchor team Tom Flint (host Alec Baldwin) and Vivian Knowles (Abby Elliott) tried their best to overcome a satellite delay with lifestyle correspondent Denise Fineman (Kristen Wiig), who was reporting live from a Costa Rican jungle brimming with wildlife (video above).

Last season, ‘SNL’ made a habit of checking in with New York station WXPD and its over-the-hill reporter Herb Welch.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Channels Infamous WNYW Reporter

“Saturday Night Live” channeled New York’s WNYW this weekend, featuring the now-recurring character of over-the-hill reporter Herb Welch.

Many will remember the embarrassing on-air argument that occurred a few years ago on WNYW’s “Good Day NY” between anchor Jim Ryan and reporter Dick Oliver.

With his thick glasses and taupe sport coat, “SNL” cast-member Bill Hader is a dead-ringer for Oliver, who infamously told Ryan on-air, “I was your boss once!”
