‘Saturday Night Live’ Makes Fun of St. Louis Morning Newscasts

Yesterday morning, “Saturday Night Live” uploaded this biting sketch on the media’s reaction to the situation in Ferguson. It was unfortunately cut for time during the live broadcast, but it’s well worth a watch.

In the skit, Cecily Strong and Keenan Thompson play the reluctant hosts of St. Louis’ happiest morning talk show, “Rise and Smile.” The two are trying desperately to avoid their normally chipper (and silly) antics in light of the protests. It doesn’t go well.

James Franco also makes an appearance as a chef named ‘Darrel Wilson’, who at one point asks, “Who am I to argue with the grand jury?”

WATCH: SNL Skit Questions Sincerity of Local Morning Shows

This weekend, Saturday Night Live took a shot at local morning shows with a spoof centered around a promo shoot.

Speaking from experience, this one seems a bit off the mark since none of the anchors asked “who wrote this?”

Happy Monday everyone.

‘SNL’ Lampoons Local News Satellite Delay

On its season premiere this past weekend, “Saturday Night Live” went to WDHX in Buffalo as anchor team Tom Flint (host Alec Baldwin) and Vivian Knowles (Abby Elliott) tried their best to overcome a satellite delay with lifestyle correspondent Denise Fineman (Kristen Wiig), who was reporting live from a Costa Rican jungle brimming with wildlife (video above).

Last season, ‘SNL’ made a habit of checking in with New York station WXPD and its over-the-hill reporter Herb Welch.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Channels Infamous WNYW Reporter

“Saturday Night Live” channeled New York’s WNYW this weekend, featuring the now-recurring character of over-the-hill reporter Herb Welch.

Many will remember the embarrassing on-air argument that occurred a few years ago on WNYW’s “Good Day NY” between anchor Jim Ryan and reporter Dick Oliver.

With his thick glasses and taupe sport coat, “SNL” cast-member Bill Hader is a dead-ringer for Oliver, who infamously told Ryan on-air, “I was your boss once!”
