Greg Gurulé Named Morning Anchor at KGUN

Greg Gurulé made his debut Monday as the new morning anchor at KGUN, the ABC affiliate in Tucson.

Gurulé was Northern Bureau Chief at Albuquerque ABC affiliate KOAT before he left the station to become a public relations and political consultant. The move reunites Gurulé with his former boss, KGUN news director Forrest Carr, who worked with him at KRQE in Albuquerque four years ago.

“Greg is an experienced journalist. He’s done just about every job a newsroom has to offer,” Carr said in a statement. “He is a solid a reporter and anchor. I’m thrilled he has joined our team.”

Gurulé anchors alongside Corinne Hautala. He replaces Steve Nuñez, who left KGUN in October.

Steve Nuñez Upped to Morning Anchor at KGUN

Beginning next Monday, Steve Nuñez will be the new morning co-anchor on KGUN, the ABC-affiliate in Tucson.

In announcing his promotion, KGUN called the reporter’s career path “a classic case of someone working his way up the ranks and succeeding through focus, determination and consistent achievement.” Nuñez began as an intern at the station in 1993.

Nuñez, a Tucson native, joins co-anchor Kimberly Romo, who is also from the area, as well as meteorologist April Madison and traffic anchor Allen Kath.

“I am thrilled to have Steve join our morning news team,” said Julie Brinks, vice president for Tucscon operations of KGUN parent company Journal Broadcast Group. “I believe our audience will embrace the opportunity to share their morning with a group individuals who can truly call Tucson their home.”
