Adrian Arambulo and Gadi Schwartz Join KNBC

Adrian Arambulo (left) and Gadi Schwartz (right) have joined KNBC, the NBC owned station in Los Angeles.

“Adrian and Gadi are two excellent journalists and we’re thrilled they have joined the news team,” KNBC vice president of news Todd Mokhtari said in a statement. “They will join our talented group of reporters to bring viewers the best breaking news, in-depth coverage and meaningful stories that connect people in Southern California.”

Arambulo will join KNBC as the weekend morning-co anchor, replacing Ted Chen, who will remain with the station as a general assignment reporter. Arambulo will also report for KNBC. Since 2007, he has worked as the weekend morning anchor at KDFW, the Fox O&O in Dallas. He will begin anchoring the weekend newscast on August 31.

Schwartz, who will report for the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts, joins KNBC from KOB, the NBC affiliate in Albuquerque. In his 10 years there, he has been the station’s weekend co-anchor and managing investigator for the investigative unit.

Los Angeles Stations Go Live for Endeavour Arrival

As the space shuttle Endeavour made its final flight around Los Angeles Friday afternoon, every major station in the region was carrying live coverage of its arrival.

KNBC anchors Michael Brownlee and Kathy Vara began anchoring coverage just before 9:30amPT. They were joined by Colleen Williams at Griffith Observatory, John Cadiz Klemack in Palmdale, Sean Murphy at the Santa Monica Pier, Ted Chen at Edwards Air Force Base, Toni Guinyard and Chuck Henry at LAX, Patrick Healy at the Nasa Propulsion Center and Antonio Castelan in El Segundo.

KTTV had several anchors participating: Phil Shuman, Carlos Amezcua, Araksya Karapetyan, Lisa Breckenridge and Jeff Michael. Meteorologist Maria Quiban and Pablo Pereira handled the weather reports, and reporters were live across Los Angeles, including Bob DeCastro and Gigi Graciette at LAX, Mar Yvette at a restaurant near LAX and Gina Silva at Griffith Observatory. Michelle Valles Joins KNBC as Weekend Anchor

Michelle Valles has been hired as weekend morning co-anchor at KNBC, the NBC O&O in Los Angeles.

Valles most recently lived in Austin, where she anchored on KXAN from 2003-08 and on KEYE from 2008-10. For the past two years, she has been acting, appearing in musicals and writing for a local magazine, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

“Her experience as a broadcast journalist, along with her energy, wit and creativity, will greatly contribute to our newscast,” KNBC president Steve Carlston said in a statement announcing Valles’ hire. Read more
