Iain Page Joins WTXF in Philadelphia

After two years at KPRC in Houston, Iain Page is joining WTXF in Philadelphia.

Beginning February 18, Page will join the Fox O&O as co-anchor of the 5 p.m. newscast alongside Kerry Barrett. He will also contribute to the 10 p.m. newscast as a reporter.

“Iain’s unique background, having worked in various broadcasting roles and as an attorney, will serve our viewers well. This, along with his strong reporting experience and ability to tell a compelling story, will bring a valuable perspective to our newscasts,” WTXF VP-GM Dennis Bianchi said in a statement.

Page takes over for Thomas Drayton at the 5 p.m. anchor desk. Drayton will continue to co-anchor WTXF’s 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts with Barrett.

Kerry Barrett Promoted to Evening Anchor at WTXF

Kerry Barrett, a reporter at Philadelphia Fox O&O WTXF, has been named the station’s evening co-anchor.

Although Barrett has been filling in on the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts alongside Thomas Drayton since last fall, WTXF news director Steve Schwaid officially announced the promotion today.

“Kerry’s reporting skills demonstrate a genuine connection to our viewers and a unique understanding of the issues facing residents in the Delaware Valley,” Schwaid said. “We are excited to have her in this increased role at our station.”

Barrett joined WTXF in 2010. Her appointment to evening anchor is effective immediately.

WTXF Reporter Attacked On-Air During Live Report

WTXF‘s Chris O’Connell was attacked on-camera Tuesday night while reporting live at the top of the Fox O&O’s 10 p.m. newscast.

O’Connell, along with photographer Dave Edwards, were in South Philadelphia covering what was considered one of the most bizarre cases of animal hoarding ever seen in the area when they were confronted by the son of the suspected hoarder (video above).

“Apparently he was upset because we were here,” O’Connell explained to anchor Thomas Drayton following the attack.

Mike Missanelli Apologizes for Cursing on Hot Mic

Mike Missanelli, Philadelphia sports radio personality and WTXF contributer, apologized to viewers last night for accidentally cursing on-air during WTXF’s 5 p.m. newscast.

“Even though I thought my microphone was off, my language was inappropriate,” Missanelli told viewers during the 10 p.m. newscast. “From the bottom of my heart, I’m sorry” (video above).

Earlier in the evening, Missanelli spoke to WTXF anchor Thomas Drayton from his radio studio at 97.5 FM. Following the segment, as anchor Lauren Cohn teased upcoming stories, Missanelli is clearly heard yelling, “Dude, what the f—? Same bullsh– happens all the time!” Read more
