Iain Page Named Evening Anchor at WTXF

After two months filling in on the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts, Iain Page has officially been named evening co-anchor at WTXF, the Fox owned station in Philadelphia.

“Iain’s on-air presence, engagement with viewers and versatility made him the right choice for this premier role on our evening news,” WTXF vice president and news director Jim Driscoll said in a statement.

Page joined WTXF in February as co-anchor of the 5 p.m. newscast alongside Kerry Barrett. When Thomas Drayton left the station in July, Page took over for him on the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts.

Thomas Drayton Signs Off From WTXF

Thomas Drayton is leaving WTXF, the Fox O&O in Philadelphia. The news of Drayton’s last broadcast was announced this morning on “Good Day Philadelphia.”

“It has been a pleasure. You guys are unbelievable, talented, wonderful to work with,” Drayton told “Good Day” anchors Mike Jerrick and Sheinelle Jones.

Drayton joined the station in 2008 from KTXL, the Fox affiliate in Sacramento. He anchored WTXF’s 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts before shifting to mornings to anchor from 4:30 to 6 a.m. earlier this year.

“We want to thank Thomas for his many contributions to our station, as he was an important part of our news team for several years. We wish him success in the future,” WTXF vice president and news director Jim Driscoll said in a statement to TVSpy.

WTXF Adds Two to Morning Show

WTXF, Philadelphia’s FOX owned station, has made a couple of changes to its morning line up.

A station spokesperson confirmed with TVSpy, Dawn Timmeney (pictured center) has joined the station full time for “Good Day Philadelphia” while Thomas Drayton (pictured left) has made what may be a temporary switch from evenings to a 4:30 to 6:00 a.m. shift. Taking Drayton’s place while he’s on mornings is Iain Page (pictured right).

Timmeney has worked part time for WTXF. She left Philadelphia’s NBC owned station WCAU in December. Drayton has been the station’s 5:00 and 10:00 p.m. anchor. Page joined WTXF in February as a reporter.

Iain Page Joins WTXF in Philadelphia

After two years at KPRC in Houston, Iain Page is joining WTXF in Philadelphia.

Beginning February 18, Page will join the Fox O&O as co-anchor of the 5 p.m. newscast alongside Kerry Barrett. He will also contribute to the 10 p.m. newscast as a reporter.

“Iain’s unique background, having worked in various broadcasting roles and as an attorney, will serve our viewers well. This, along with his strong reporting experience and ability to tell a compelling story, will bring a valuable perspective to our newscasts,” WTXF VP-GM Dennis Bianchi said in a statement.

Page takes over for Thomas Drayton at the 5 p.m. anchor desk. Drayton will continue to co-anchor WTXF’s 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts with Barrett.

Kerry Barrett Promoted to Evening Anchor at WTXF

Kerry Barrett, a reporter at Philadelphia Fox O&O WTXF, has been named the station’s evening co-anchor.

Although Barrett has been filling in on the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts alongside Thomas Drayton since last fall, WTXF news director Steve Schwaid officially announced the promotion today.

“Kerry’s reporting skills demonstrate a genuine connection to our viewers and a unique understanding of the issues facing residents in the Delaware Valley,” Schwaid said. “We are excited to have her in this increased role at our station.”

Barrett joined WTXF in 2010. Her appointment to evening anchor is effective immediately.

WTXF Reporter Attacked On-Air During Live Report

WTXF‘s Chris O’Connell was attacked on-camera Tuesday night while reporting live at the top of the Fox O&O’s 10 p.m. newscast.

O’Connell, along with photographer Dave Edwards, were in South Philadelphia covering what was considered one of the most bizarre cases of animal hoarding ever seen in the area when they were confronted by the son of the suspected hoarder (video above).
