In Milwaukee, WISN Shuffles Anchor Lineup

Milwaukee ABC affiliate WISN is shuffling its anchor lineup heading into the Fall, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel‘s Duane Dudek reports.

Beginning August 12, Jason Newton (pictured) will move from the 5 p.m. anchor desk to the morning anchor desk. He joins the current morning anchors Patrick Paolantonio and Marianne Lyles on the newscast; the third morning anchor, Portia Young, will shift to weekend mornings and report during the week.

Replacing Newton at 5 p.m. will be Craig McKee, who will continue in his role as 6 and 10 p.m. co-anchor. McKee will anchor alongside Toya Washington, according to Dudek.

WISN has also named Joyce Garbaciak the Sunday evening anchor. She will helm the 10 p.m. newscast alongside Toni Valliere, who joins the station next month, and recently-hired meteorologist Chris Gloninger.

Craig McKee to Join WISN as Evening Anchor

Craig McKee is the newest addition to WISN, the ABC-affiliate in Milwaukee, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal.

McKee will co-anchor the 10 p.m. newscast with Kathy Mykleby beginning in early April. He will begin reporting for the station on March 26.

He joins WISN from KFMB, the CBS-affiliate in San Diego, where he was a weekend anchor. He has previously worked at WOWK in Huntington and KPNX in Phoenix.

The 10 p.m. anchor spot has been open since July, according to the Business Journal. Co-anchor Toya Washington switched to part time to spend more time with her family. She continues to anchor the 5 p.m. newscast and will be paired with Jason Newton beginning later this month.

Milwaukee’s WISN Prepares 1-Hour Newscast at 10 p.m.

Milwaukee’s WISN is set to expand its weekday evening newscast to one hour. The ABC-affiliate will launch its new hour-long 10 p.m. newscast on January 24th.

WISN, which has been running a 1-hour evening newscast on Sunday, is energized by strong sweeps ratings for its weekday 10 p.m. newscast. “Our November numbers are evidence the people of southeastern Wisconsin want additional coverage from the news team,” said Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN.

Kathy Mykleby and Toya Washington will continue to anchor the 10 p.m. newscast as it extends to 11. They’ll be joined by chief meteorologist Mark Baden and sports anchor Dan Needles. Read more
