Anchor Kaushal Patel Says Goodbye to KGTV

After three years at KGTV, anchor Kaushal Patel has left the San Diego ABC affiliate.

KGTV general manager Jeff Block told TVSpy Patel’s contract was up. He said he does not know where she is going next.

Patel anchored the morning and midday newscasts alongside Bill Griffith. Virginia Cha was named morning and midday co-anchor after Patel’s departure.

Before joining KGTV, Patel worked at CNN, KTVT-KTXA in Dallas, KOLD in Tucson and KYMA in Yuma, Ariz.

Virginia Cha joins KGTV in San Diego as the station’s weeknight 5:30 p.m. anchor, after working as a freelance anchor at CNN.

Isis Romero has been promoted to anchor the weeknight 10 p.m. newscast at KSAT in San Antonio.  Romero previously served as a weekend anchor for the ABC-affiliate.

Suzanne Marques becomes the new entertainment reporter at KCBS-KCAL in LA.  Prior to KCBS-KCAL, Marques was a reporter on KTTV’s “Good Day LA.”

Kim Fischer joins KTVX in Salt Lake City as an anchor-reporter.  Fischer will anchor the weekday 5 p.m. newscast and report for 10 p.m. Read more

HLN Anchor Virginia Cha Joining KGTV in San Diego

Virginia Cha, an Atlanta-based anchor at HLN, has left the network to join KGTV, the ABC-affiliate in San Diego.

Cha will start at KGTV this week and make her on-air debut on Monday, December 5, news director Joel Davis confirmed to TVSpy.

Cha joined HLN in 2005 from NBC News, where she was a New York-based correspondent. Prior to joining NBC, Cha was an anchor and chief medical correspondent for WBZ, the CBS owned-and-operated station in Boston. She began her career at WFSB, the CBS-affiliate in Hartford.
