Quincy Buys Three Stations from Granite, One From Malara

quincyQuincy Newspapers has announced it is adding nine stations in four markets by buying five stations outright and agreeing to provide operating services to four more.

From Granite Broadcasting, Quincy will buy NBC affiliate WEEK in Peoria, IL, NBC/MyTV affiliate KBJR and its satellite KRII in Duluth, MN/Superior, WI, and CBS/CW affiliate WBNG in Binghamton, NY. Quincy is buying ABC/CW affiliate WPTA in Ft. Wayne, IN, from Malara Broadcasting.

Quincy will also provide operating services to Sinclair Broadcasting Group’s ABC/CW affiliate WHOI and Four Seasons Broadcasting’s WAOE in Peoria, IL, as well as SagamoreHill Broadcasting’s newly acquired stations NBC/MyTV affiliate WISE in Ft. Jenna Hanchard Joins KSHB From WBNG

Jenna Hanchard has signed on to be a multimedia journalist at KSHB, Bottom Line Communications reports.

Hanchard joins the Kansas City NBC-affiliate from WBNG, the CBS-affiliate in Binghamton, NY, where she anchored the weekday 5 p.m. newscast. Prior to that, she spent six years as a production assistant at WMAQ, the NBC O&O in Chicago.

Hanchard started this week at KSHB. She will appear on the weekday morning newscast.

VIDEO: WBNG Producer Enters Wrestling Ring

Bryan Mercer faces a lot of challenges in producing the 6 p.m. newscast for WBNG in Binghamton, NY, but it’s safe to say that none quite compare to what he faced recently at a local wrestling match.

WBNG is now producing regular coverage of the local Xcite Wrestling series and Mercer got in on the action at a recent match (video above).
