Ronna Corrente Named GM at WDKY

Ronna Corrente has been promoted to general manager at WDKY, Sinclair’s Fox affiliate in Lexington, Ky.

Corrente has worked at the station for 17 years, most recently as general and local sales manager. She replaces Michael Brickey, who had been general manager since 2006.

“We are excited to promote Ronna to General Manager of the station. She has been an integral part of the station’s success over the years, she knows the market, its viewing habits and how to connect our business partners with our audience,” Sinclair COO Steve Marks said in a statement. “We look forward to building on her experience and relationships.”

Sinclair Broadcasting, Insight Cable Fighting Over Carriage Agreement Extension

Sinclair Broadcasting and Insight Cable are facing down a December 31 deadline to renegotiate their existing carriage agreement.

If a deal is not reached by December 31, Sinclair-owned stations that are carried by Insight Cable will be blacked out. The affected stations are WDKY, in Lexington, KY; WSYX-WTTE in Columbus, OH; and WSTR in Cincinnati, OH.

“Like any business, we’re not prepared to sell our product if we can’t get what we think is an appropriate price for the product,” Barry Faber, executive vice president and general counsel for Sinclair, told the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Insight is currently being purchased by Time Warner Cable, which had their own retransmission dispute early this year. The Herald-Leader reports the carriage agreement between Sinclair and Insight will expire before that deal is completed.

Following the departure of sports anchor Brandon Fisher, Lexington CBS-affiliate WKYT is changing up the responsibilities of the sports team.

According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, Fisher has left the station after three years to accept a job in pharmaceutical sales. Longtime WKYT sports anchor Rob Bromley (pictured), who was seen on the 11 p.m. newscast before Fisher joined the station, will return to the evenings. He will be the sports anchor on the 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 p.m newscasts.

“I wanted to streamline the anchor teams,” WKYT news director Robert Thomas told the Herald-Leader. “We have an anchor team at 5, 5:30 and 6 that does really well, and I wanted the exact same team doing the 11.” Read more
