Scott Levy Joins Elmira’s WETM as News Director

Scott Levy has joined WETM, the NBC affiliate for Elmira, NY, as News Director.

Levy replaces Scott Nichols, who left to lead Bonten Media Group’s Eastern North Carolina stations which include ABC affiliate WCTI and FOX affiliates WFXI in Morehead City and WYDO in Greenville.

Levy comes to Elmira from News12 Bronx-Brooklyn where he was the morning executive producer.  On his twitter page he posted a farewell to the New York City area, “Triborough Bridge.  Final Time.  For Now. #movingday #ElmiraBound”

Bonten Media, Time Warner Face Sunday Deadline In Carriage Dispute

The January 1 deadline is getting closer for Time Warner Cable and Bonten Media to negotiate a carriage agreement in Greenville, NC.

Several stations in the market are at risk: ABC-affiliate WCTI and Fox-affiliates WFXI-WYDO. Bonten owns WCTI and operates WFXI-WYDO under a joint service agreement.

“We are continuing to negotiate, and working hard to resolve this issue in a fair and timely manner,” Bonten CEO Randall Bongarten said in a statement today.

Verizon FiOs and Media General are also facing a January 1 deadline in retransmission negotiations.

Jaime McCutcheon Hired As WFXI-WYDO Anchor

Jaime McCutcheon has left WOWT for WFXI-WYDO in North Carolina. She will be the primary evening anchor on the Fox affiliate.

McCutcheon has been the weekend anchor at WOWT, the NBC affiliate in Omaha, for the past five years. She  has also spent time at WMAZ in Macon, GA, and KDLT in Sioux Falls, SD.

The WFXI-WYDO duopoly is operated by the Bonten Media Group and covers the Greenville-New Bern-Jacksonville, NC, market. McCutcheon will co-anchor the 10 p.m. broadcast with Brian North.

McCutcheon is a University of Georgia graduate who plans to spend time at the beach with her husband and daughter when she’s not on the air.
