WTVJ Promotes Sports Reporter to Main Anchor

WTVJ announced today that Adam Kuperstein will join Jackie Nespral as anchor of the NBC station’s 5, 6, and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Kuperstein, who has been with WTVJ since 2005, has transitioned to the news desk over the last several months while serving as the station’s weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter.  For the past six years, he has also co-hosted WTVJ’s Sunday night sports show.

“This is an incredible honor for me,” Kuperstein said. “I am excited to have the opportunity to come into our viewers’ homes in this new role and look forward to informing and serving the South Florida community for many years.” Read more

Katie Jeffries Joining WJXX-WTLV in Jacksonville

Katie Jeffries is joining WJXX-WTLV, the Gannett duopoly in Jacksonville, as a general assignment reporter, TVSpy has learned.

Jeffries makes the move from WCTI, the ABC-affiliate in Greenville, NC. She was hired as the Greenville bureau chief in April 2010 and was promoted to weekend morning anchor in May 2011. Prior to joining WCTI, she worked at WHIZ, the NBC-affiliate in Zanesville, OH.

Jeffries’ job was posted on the WCTI website this morning. A job listing for a weekend meteorologist was also posted; station sources tell TVSpy that Dominic Brown is bound for Norfolk, VA.

NBC Stations Across Ohio Teaming Up for Debate

NBC-affiliates across Ohio are partnering to present a statewide debate centered on Issue 2, a controversial state referendum up for repeal. The debate will be moderated by NBC News political director Chuck Todd and broadcast from Columbus on Tuesday, October 25th.

The debate will be carried by WLWT Cincinnati, WKYC Cleveland, WCMH Columbus, WDTN Dayton, WLIO Lima, WNWO Toledo, WTOV Wheeling-Steubenville, WFMJ Youngstown, and WHIZ Zanesville. It will also be streamed live on each of the stations’ websites. Read more
