TVSpy is in a glass case of emotion over the release of the trailer for “Anchorman: The Legend Continues,” otherwise known as Anchorman 2.

The movie is a follow up to “Anchorman,” a documentary style look at local news in the 1970′s. Not really. Though it did give us lines like, “I’m kind of a big deal” and treated us all to an acapella version of “Afternoon Delight.”

Will Ferrell reprises his role as Ron Burgundy, as will Paul Rudd/Brian Fantana, Steve Carrell/Brick Tamland and David Koechner/Champ Kind. The movie is set to drop just before Christmas 2013.

Another Super Bowl, Another Old Milwaukee Ad Featuring Will Ferrell

Last year, Super Bowl viewers in North Platte, Neb., were the only people in the country to see an Old Milwaukee ad featuring Will Ferrell when it aired on TV during the game. And it appears Old Milwaukee has done it again, albeit in different markets, this year.

According to Reddit, the below ad aired on two stations: KXII in Sherman, Texas-Ardmore, Okla. and KXGN in Glendive, Mont.

Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton-Only Super Bowl Ad

If you’re planning on watching the Super Bowl in Scranton this weekend, you’ll see a commercial that the rest of the country won’t.

Paper company Dunder Mifflin is airing a 30-second spot (watch it below) only in the Scranton-Wilkes Barre market, on CBS affiliate WYOU. The Dunder Mifflin brand name was made famous as the fictional company in NBC’s “The Office,” which takes place in Scranton. Staples manufactures a line of paper with the Dunder Mifflin name under license from NBC’s parent company, Comcast.

The one-market ad buy is similar to a tactic used by Old Milwaukee beer last year. The ad, featuring Will Ferrell, aired only on KNOP in North Platte, Neb.

Ron Burgundy, er, Will Ferrell appeared on “Conan” today to announce the glorious return of the Channel 4 News Team.

“I want to announce this to everyone here,” Burgundy told the “Conan” audience during the show’s taping earlier today. “Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to ‘Anchorman.’”

Like so many of your fellow local newsers, if you love the cult classic “Anchorman,” then you may want to head to Jacksonville, Florida this weekend.

In the spirit of the film, numerous Jax TV, print, and radio newsrooms–including folks from WJXT, WTEV-WAWS, and First Coast News–are fielding teams to face off in tomorrow’s News Room Street Fight. Journos will participate in a charity dodge ball tournament to benefit the Jacksonville Police Athletic League, with special appearances by Jacksonville Jaguars players Eben Britton and Rashad Jennings , and Ron Burgundy himself (sorry, no Will Ferrell – it’ll be a local actor dressed up).

KNOP general manager Lewys Carlini had one thought when he first watched the now-famous Will Ferrell Super Bowl ad for Old Milwaukee: why’d it cut off?

“I had to watch it two or three times to make sure there wasn’t a technical problem,” Carlini told TVSpy today. He even called the agency that placed the commercial to double-check that it was indeed supposed to cut off just as Ferrell starts saying “Old Milwaukee.”

Carlini personally reviewed all of the ads that were set to run during Sunday’s Super Bowl to make sure they were appropriate for air. continued…

KNOP Airs Will Ferrell Super Bowl Commercial, GM Calls it ‘Odd’

KNOP in North Platte, Nebraska has a unique distinction: it was the only station in the country to air an Old Milwaukee commercial featuring Will Ferrell during Sunday’s Super Bowl.

After airing on KNOP, in the second-smallest market in the country, the ad went viral on Monday, edging out actual Super Bowl ads as the topic of watercooler conversation.

Back in North Platte, KNOP general manger Lewys Carlini thinks the whole thing is a bit strange.

“We found it interesting and odd that they would pick KNOP in North Platte, the second smallest market in the nation, for one spot to run and that’s all that ran,” Carlini said on Monday, “and for it hitting their hopes that it would go viral, and apparently it did.” continued…
