KMBC in Kansas City airs “Jimmy Kimmel Live” at 11:35 pmCT because of existing contracts to show syndicated programming. Maushard will oversee Hearst’s corporate news efforts, a role that was previously held by Brian Bracco. In November, Bracco was named general manager of KSHB in Kansas City.

Maushard has served in her current role since 2008. Before that, she was news director at three Hearst properties: WESH in Orlando, WISN in Milwaukee and KHBS-KHOG in Fort Smith, Ark.

NBC affiliate WTMJ averaged an 11.3 during the debate, ABC affiliate WISN pulled in a 10.3, FOX affiliate WITI saw a 6.9 and CBS affiliate WDJT drew a 3.7.  A rating point in Milwaukee is equal to 9,100 households.

WISN and KCRA-KQCZ are all owned by Hearst. The move is a return to Sacramento for Waldon, who was assistant news director at KOVR-KMAX before joining WISN in 2006. In a statement announcing the move, WISN president Jan Wade praised Waldon’s “excellent job” as news director.

Sater currently anchors the 6 p.m. weekday newscast. Beginning this weekend, Sater will anchor the the Sunday 10 p.m. newscast and report for the weekday 10 p.m. newscast, news director Lori Waldon tells TVSpy. Shelby Croft, who also anchors on Sundays at 5:30, currently anchors on Sunday at 10 p.m.

“Terry is an excellent reporter and his move is part of our plan to make our #1 rated newscast even stronger,” Waldon told TVSpy.

WISN and WITI confirmed to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Wednesday that some of their employees signed the recall petitions.

WISN and WITI came forward after WTMJ reported during its Tuesday evening newscasts that several of its employees, including one on-air figure, signed the petitions.

“Station management wants you to know they consider this a serious issue,” WTMJ anchor Mike Jacobs told viewers on Tuesday.  “The station is in the process of dealing with it internally.” continued…

McKee will co-anchor the 10 p.m. newscast with Kathy Mykleby beginning in early April. He will begin reporting for the station on March 26.

He joins WISN from KFMB, the CBS-affiliate in San Diego, where he was a weekend anchor. He has previously worked at WOWK in Huntington and KPNX in Phoenix.

The 10 p.m. anchor spot has been open since July, according to the Business Journal. Co-anchor Toya Washington switched to part time to spend more time with her family. She continues to anchor the 5 p.m. newscast and will be paired with Jason Newton beginning later this month.

With the Saints set to kick off the NFL season tonight against the Packers in Green Bay, New Orleans NBC-affiliate WDSU has rented a house in the shadow of Lambeau Field and anchor Scott Walker and crew have been broadcasting live from the backyard, where they’ve erected a set.

WDSU’s invasion of Packer territory this week has been covered by local NBC-affiliate WGBA (video here) as well as Hearst sister station WISN in Milwaukee.

Obama will speak with Milwaukee’s WISN, Pittsburgh’s WTAE, Seattle’s KING and Raleigh-Durham’s WTVD. WISN and WTAE are ABC affiliates; WTVD is an ABC O&O. KING is an NBC affiliate. Reporters and crews from each station traveled to the White House for the interviews, which will take place at 10:35 a.m. in the Map Room.

The Obama administration has scheduled several rounds of interviews with regional stations in a continued push to localize their message, particularly in battleground states. The interviews will air on their respective stations beginning at 5 p.m. tonight.
