WMDT Sold to First Time Local Buyers for $9 Million

Salisbury, MD, ABC affiliate WMDT has announced it has been sold to Maryland based Marquee Broadcasting pending FCC approval.

According to Delmarvanow.com, Marquee’s first television station purchase is worth $9 million.

“We are thrilled to be entering television broadcasting with the acquisition of WMDT,” said Patricia Lane, who along with her husband Brian are principal owners of Marquee Broadcasting. “As 30-year Maryland residents, we are looking forward to serving communities we know in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.”

According to a station press release, WMDT has 60 employees. Station manager Kathleen McLain has been with station for 17 years. You can watch video of the station’s announcement after the jump. Read more

Na’eem Douglas Joins WCAU in Philadelphia

Na’eem Douglas is the newest reporter at WCAU, the NBC owned station in Philadelphia. Douglas comes from News 12 Brooklyn, where he has been a reporter and fill-in anchor since 2007.

“Our daily mission is to deliver breaking news and information to our viewers, and Na’eem will play a big part in that,” WCAU vice president of news Anzio Williams said in a statement.

Douglas, a Philadelphia native, has also worked at WMDT, the ABC affiliate in Salisbury, Md. He is the fourth new journalist to join WCAU since March.

Maryellen Pann Named Chief Meteorologist at WPMT

Maryellen Pann has been promoted to chief meteorologist at WPMT, the Fox affiliate in Harrisburg-Lancaster, Penn.

Pann has worked as a meteorologist at WPMT since 1990, when she began as the station’s weekend weathercaster. She handles the forecasts on the 6, 6:30, 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Pann received her certificate in meteorology from Mississippi State University. She has also worked at WBFF in Baltimore and WMDT in Salisbury, Md. [TVNewsCheck]
