In a moment made for YouTube, KTXL reporter Sean Bennett attempted to snowboard (or, as he called it, “surf skating”) on live TV while covering a snow storm that hit the Sacramento area this week. It didn’t go well.

KTXL quickly posted raw video of Bennett’s fall on its website and now fellow Tribune station WXIN has uploaded it to YouTube, proclaiming it to be a “viral video.” So far, it’s received 54 views.

Dennis told TVSpy this week that, following the on-air incident, she contacted the news directors of every station in Denver, imploring them not to air footage of the bite.

While it appears most stations respected Dennis’s request, at least one, Fox-affiliate KDVR, aired footage of the bite.

In April, Mueller abruptly resigned from WGGB after someone posted a video on YouTube of him acting erratically while MC-ing a fund-raising gala. Mueller later admitted to having a “few drinks” before the event–which was held in honor of an 11-year-old boy who hanged himself after being bullied at school–and eventually went public about his battle with alcoholism.

The Tennessee pastor who became a YouTube celebrity after thanking God for his “smokin’ hot wife” at a NASCAR race sat down with WTVF recently and said that he came up with his notorious prayer on the fly (video above).

“I didn’t know what I was going to say really until I got there,” Pastor Joe Nelms told WTVF reporter Adam Ghassemi.  “I had in my mind ‘okay, I want to thank God for some of the innovations in racing,’ but the smoking hot wife part and the boogity, boogity, boogity I didn’t know it was coming until it came out of my mouth.” continued…

“At the beginning, I was so unhappy with the person that posted the video but now I’m grateful to them,” Mueller told TVSpy. “They saved my life.”

Mueller has since sought help for his alcoholism and, as of today, he has been sober for 43 days. He has travelled a great distance during those 43 days (as evidenced by the Day 1 photo at right), moving beyond the initial humiliation caused by the YouTube video and focussing his energy on becoming a better, healthier person.

The early wake-up time and long hours required for his job anchoring WGGB’s morning newscast left Mueller, a recent transplant to Springfield, feeling isolated. “The shift was enabling me,” Mueller says. For most people, St. Patrick’s Day means corned beef, green clothing, and plenty of Guinness. For former WPMI anchor Scott Walker, it means that a wildly popular YouTube video featuring him is passed around.

In 2006, Walker anchored a newscast that featured a story about a leprechaun sighting in the Crichton area of Mobile, AL. Video of the broadcast was uploaded to YouTube and it became a proto-”Bed Intruder” sensation, racking up tens of millions of views (video above).
