Calderon Mitchel comes from KBNT, the Univision station in San Diego, where he has anchored the weekday newscasts and produced the late evening newscasts since 2011. He has also worked at KCEC, the Univision station in Colorado.

TELEMUNDO DENVER / KDEN NAMES PEDRO CALDERON MITCHEL NEWS DIRECTOR
DENVER, CO– (November 13, 2013) – Telemundo Denver today announced the addition of Emmy Award-winning journalist Pedro Calderon Mitchel as News Director, effective November 18, 2013. He will report to Station Manager Andres Chaparro.
In his new role, Calderon Mitchel will be responsible for managing the station’s news operations including planning and production.

Calderon Mitchel brings with him over 21 years of experience in journalism. He joins KDEN from Univision San Diego / KBNT where he was Anchor of the weekday newscasts and Producer of the late evening newscast since 2011. During his tenure as Producer, the program achieved its highest ratings since its launch.
Previously, he served as Anchor / Producer for Univision Colorado KCEC from 2009 to 2011. From 2008 to 2009, Calderon Mitchel was Attaché to the Director for “España Directo,” one of the highest rated programs in Spain, which was televised worldwide via TVE International. From 2004 to 2007, he was News Director at Univision Sacramento / KUVS. He also held roles in television and print from 1989 to 2003.
A recipient of three Emmy Awards, Calderon Mitchel has also been recognized by the News Directors Association Awards, the Association of Latin Entertainment Critics of New York (ACE Awards) and the Immigrant Liberty Award, among others.
