Telemundo Station Group has completed the acquisition of WWSI from ZGS Communications. The station will become the Telemundo O&O in Philadelphia.
“The acquisition of our affiliate WWSI further demonstrates our commitment to the local communities we serve,” Telemundo Station Group president Manuel Abud said in a statement. “We look forward to continue strengthening ties with our viewers in the Philadelphia DMA and providing them with a richer and engaging experience.”
In September, WWSI will relocate to share facilities and resources with WCAU, the NBC owned station in Philadelphia. WWSI will launch a local Spanish-language newscast in January 2014.
