Veteran Reporter Greg Stotelmyer Leaving WTVQ

Longtime WTVQ reporter Greg Stotelmyer is leaving the Lexington ABC-affiliate after being unable to come to terms on a new contract, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports.

Stotelmyer has worked at the station since 1987. He has hosted WTVQ’s “Kentucky Backroads” segments, which examine unique places and people around the state, since 1995.

“I’m just assessing what’s the next step for me,” he told the Herald-Leader. “I need to figure out what’s the best fit. … You get at a point in life when one door shuts on you, you hope it opens up doors to better things.”

“Greg is a very talented storyteller,” general manager Chris Aldridge said. “He has been a very important part of the station for 25 years. I hate to see him leave, but certainly wish him the best.”
