Shiver me timbers!  Jeff Hoover, WGN’s morning producer, kicked off International Talk Like a Pirate Day by dressing up like a buccaneer named “Long John Johnny Johnson” and regaling viewers with his version of pirate lingo.

Wearing a fake hook for a hand, goatee and pirate outfit, Hoover or “Johnson” told a couple of pirate-themed jokes complete with a laugh track then had a mini melt down before walking off set. Watch the video after the jump.

International Talk Like a Pirate Day, for the uninitiated, is a day where everyone is invited to…well…talk like a pirate.

>UPDATE:  We mistakenly identified the pirate initially as Paul Konrad, morning weathercaster.  But thanks to eagle-eyed WGN viewers, we discovered the pirate’s identity is actually producer Jeff Hoover, who as he tells TVSpy, is a “producer and occasional knucklehead that gets his mug on camera to do stupid skits.”  We apologize for the error.
