VP of News Vickie Burns Leaving KNBC
After almost two years as vice president of news at KNBC, Vickie Burns is leaving the Los Angeles NBC O&O.
“Vickie Burns has decided to leave KNBC to pursue opportunities closer to her family,” a KNBC spokesperson told TVSpy. “We’re so grateful to her for her contributions and wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”
Burns was hired in 2010 by Craig Robinson, who was promoted to chief diversity officer at NBC Universal in August. Steve Carlston took over as KNBC’s president and general manager in September.
“When Craig moved to his new role, I committed to helping a new leader with transition,” Burns wrote in a farewell note to staff obtained by LA Observed. “Now, it’s time for Steve to select a News Director to help lead the next phase of growth for KNBC and time for me to get back east of the Mississippi.”
Before joining KNBC, Burns held a variety of management positions at NBC stations in New York, Chicago and Washington, DC.
