WCBS is set to debut a brand-new studio on Thursday, beginning with the noon newscast anchored by Mary Calvi and Rob Morrison.

“It’s a magnificent, state-of-the-art new studio that allows us to present the newscasts in a dynamic, interesting, and innovative way,” WCBS news director David Friend told FishbowlNY about the new space, which is located on Manhattan’s west side.

WCBS’s makeover is part of what’s shaping up to be a studio arms race among New York stations.  WABC unveiled a new, street-level studio last month and both WNBC and WPIX are expected to debut new on-air homes in the coming months.
