Thaxton announced to the staff that he starts Monday as a temporary GM at Cleveland’s WEWS-TV, a sister Scripps station, as he begins a transition to teaching and consulting. He came here March 21, 2011, to replace Bill Fee, who retired in December 2010.
According to the article, Thaxton agreed to Scripps’ request that he, “remain with the company and serve as the interim General Manager at WEWS in Cleveland on a temporary basis as Sam Rosenwasser remains out on a medical leave of absence.”
“This is a great organization; I’ve so enjoyed working with you and sharing in the changes and progress we have made,” Thaxton told WCPO staffers. “I expect your successes will grow and I’ll be watching and cheering for you all. Thank you for your hard work, your team spirit, and especially, your friendship over these two years.”
