WESH Sports Anchor Guy Rawlings Joins WGCL As News Anchor: ‘Local Sports Seems To Be Shrinking’

Guy Rawlings, a sports anchor at WESH in Orlando, is joining WGCL in Atlanta, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Rawlings will make the switch from sports to news when he joins WGCL, a CBS-affiliate. He will co-anchor the evening newscasts with Stephany Fisher, and he will also contribute to the WGCL weekend sports team, primarily during football season.

“I wanted to try something different, look for a new challenge,” Rawlings said. “A lot of my friends who are sports anchors are unemployed. Local sports seems to be shrinking. This opportunity is a hybrid of news and sports.”

His last day at WESH is December 23, and he will start at WGCL in early 2012.
